Celebrate inaugural National Whataburger Day with free burgers

On August 7 and 8, Whataburger Rewards users can get free burgers.

National Whataburger Day is on August 8, and to celebrate, the San Antonio-based burger company is giving away free burgers.

A news statement says that National Whataburger Day is a way to celebrate the restaurant’s 73 years in business by giving away food and paying off school lunch debt.

On August 7 and 8, Whataburger Rewards members can take advantage of a free Whataburger offer in the app that doesn’t require them to buy anything.

For members to be eligible, they must have made an order through the app within the past year. The offer can only be used once at a place that is taking part.

You can get the Whataburger app from the App Store or Google Play, depending on what kind of phone you have.

On August 8, people who eat out will also get the first-ever National Whataburger Day table blankets.

Whataburger also said that its charity, Whataburger Feeding Student Success, and its partner, All for Lunch, will pay off $73,000 worth of school lunch debt. That’s $1,000 for every year Whataburger has been in business.

The release says, “By partnering with All for Lunch, we’re making sure that local programs get the help they need so that students can reach their fullest potential.”

The chain is also working with Communities in Schools to make hygiene kits for kids in 12 school districts around San Antonio.

Whataburger was started by Harmon Dobson in 1950, and its main office is in San Antonio.
