The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce staged a ribbon cutting on Thursday morning to mark the opening of the former Commerce Avenue Chick-fil-A’s new location on Vernon Road.
The restaurant’s official launch, according to store owner Josh Sells, felt strange.
“There have been many different feelings. Commerce’s closing last week was painful. It was open for 27 years, and I’ve been working there for 12. Although there are many memories there, Sells noted that being here today is quite weird. “Right now, we’re trying to process everything and embrace the good change.
It was fantastic, according to Sells, to have the community’s and devoted customers’ backing.
“What we appreciate about LaGrange is that it welcomes those in need. That’s what we fell in love with when we first came here, twelve years ago. We saw this community come together to support one another and care for its own,” Sells added. “It’s been great to be here, and I appreciate the community’s support and everyone who came out to celebrate with us today.
Many people were outraged and didn’t want the store to close when the news of the previous location closing spread.
Sells stated that they would have cherished to keep the Commerce store open and that they want to be able to offer excellent service. However, it wasn’t part of Chick-fil-A’s development strategy because it wasn’t feasible logistically or financially.
He claimed that despite considering a variety of solutions to deal with the restaurant’s high volume of foot traffic, notably through the drive-thru, they eventually outgrew the space.
“Now that the Commerce location can no longer handle the business, we have a building that can. Five years ago, we outgrew the building, said Sells.
We now have a cutting-edge facility that can manage the business and look after our staff, whether it’s canopies with fans so they don’t have to stand outside in the heat or a break area where team members can go and enjoy the air conditioner that can be felt throughout the entire restaurant. My crew feels really taken care of right now, and maybe that will translate to our guests feeling even better because they now have something to be proud of.
