HomeGoods aims to boost its market share on Long Island, with plans to open a new 24,000 sq.ft store in New Hyde Park in 2024.
HomeGoods is trying to increase its share of the market for home décor purchases made on Long Island.
According to Welco Realty Inc., which is based in New Rochelle and supervises leasing for the landlord, SFR Realty Associates LLC in New Rochelle, the off-price home goods retailer wants to open a new shop in a location that is roughly 24,000 square feet and which it has leased at 657 Hillside Ave. in New Hyde Park.
According to Welco, the location at the Hillside Avenue shopping complex was once held by a Walgreens pharmacy. The pharmacy moved to a different location in the shopping center so that it could offer a drive-through service.

Welco stated in a statement on Thursday that they are “very excited to be able to bring HomeGoods,” another anchor to a very successful shopping complex that is now anchored by a high volume Stop & Shop supermarket with other large national brands such as Old Navy, Five Below, and Panera Bread. “We are very excited to be able to bring HomeGoods,” Welco said.
The TJX Companies Inc., headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts, owns a number of discount retail brands in addition to HomeGoods, including Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, Homesense, and others. HomeGoods is one of these chains.
On Thursday, attempts to contact TJX for a possible comment were unsuccessful.
On Long Island, there are now 15 locations of HomeGoods stores.
According to Jerry Welkis, president of Welco, New Hyde Park presents a promising prospect for the retail establishment.
They had a great time in the market. They are crazy about the target audience… According to Welkis, who anticipates that the New Hyde Park location will open some time in 2024, “I think the Long Island market is a very strong market for them.”
TJX Companies operated 4,865 stores in nine countries as of the 29th of April, including 901 HomeGoods locations in the United States.
On Long Island, there are a total of 15 HomeGoods locations, three of which are combo stores with Marshalls. These stores can be found in Riverhead, Stony Brook, and Syosset.
