The Independence, Kentucky hub will serve as a satellite to the Monroe, Ohio distribution hub. In the Monroe plant, orders are filled at the peak of freshness. Associates pack orders with care and load them into temperature-controlled vans for transport to the Independence distribution center. Cold and frozen goods are kept at the ideal temperature from the time they leave the supplier until they reach the customer’s refrigerator. Once orders arrive, they are checked and loaded onto refrigerated delivery vehicles that make door-to-door deliveries. Over the next few years, the facility will grow to employ over 100 workers. “Kroger is a valued corporate citizen in the Cincinnati region,” stated Lee Crume, CEO of BE NKY Growth Partnership. We’re glad they’re expanding into Northern Kentucky so they can serve the whole tristate area and get their fast, high-quality goods to clients.
“With smart investments like these, Kentucky can reach new heights. “Corporate citizens like Kroger are essential to making the Commonwealth a better place to live, work, and do business as we look to expand our economic opportunity,” said Ashli Watts, President and CEO of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. In order to show our appreciation, we would want to say, “We want to thank them for their continued dedication to advancing Kentucky.”

Kroger Delivery Explained
Kroger’s partnership with Ocado Group, a global leader in supermarket e-commerce technology, has expanded to include the greater Kentucky area. The firms announced their partnership in 2018 with the goal of creating a delivery system that uses cutting-edge AI, robots, and automation to revolutionize the American economy.
This world-class customer service is made possible by highly automated hub locations. Robots at each distribution center use 3D grids stocked with perishables, stationary goods, and everyday necessities to fulfill requests. The method employs cutting-edge AI to select the packing procedure, which guarantees that the products are packed correctly (with the heaviest things on the bottom) and efficiently (using the fewest possible bags to minimize waste). Associates perform crucial quality checks after items have been assembled.
All perishable goods leave a temperature-controlled distribution center and are transported in refrigerated trucks designed specifically for the job. Each Kroger Delivery van may carry up to 20 orders, and helpful drivers are dispatched to make deliveries as quickly as possible, taking into account factors like traffic and the weather. The drivers are also pleased to take back any plastic bags or film from the patrons to be recycled by an outside company. Deliveries from the hub and spoke locations can take up to 90 minutes in a van. In order to meet customer needs, employees at the spoke location will expand the number of ZIP codes they distribute to.
Kroger has customer fulfillment centers in California, Phoenix, Arizona, Cleveland, Ohio, Charlotte, North Carolina, South Florida, and the Northeast in addition to the ones already in operation in Monroe, Ohio, Groveland, Florida, Forest Park, Georgia (Atlanta), Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Dallas, Texas, Romulus, Michigan (Detroit), Aurora, Colorado, and Frederick, Maryland.
