The next limited-edition menu item at the company is a fried taco shell with the same cheese combination grilled on the outside of the corn shell. The filling is slow-braised, shredded beef topped with a creamy jalapeo sauce and a three-cheese blend (cheddar, mozzarella, and pepper jack). Both a spicy red sauce and nacho cheese are provided for dunking the taco in.
The new meal got its culinary motivation from birria, a traditional Mexican pork stew.
Taco Bell’s global chief culinary innovation officer Liz Matthews said in a statement that the dish “allows our fans to enjoy a new range of flavors they may have never had from Taco Bell before” by blending slow-braised shredded beef with the two dipping sauces. This Mexican-inspired dish is a departure from the standard fare that Taco Bell customers have come to anticipate. We’re thrilled to roll out this new menu item across the country after a successful trial run in 2022.
Taco Bell will offer another limited-time meal next week: Beef Crunch Burrito
In August, the new Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco comes out on the same day as the return of the Beefy Crunch Burrito.
With the Taco Bell app, Taco Bell Rewards members can start getting the burrito it two days early, on August 1.
The Beefy Crunch Burrito is made with seasoned beef and rice, nacho cheese sauce, reduced-fat sour cream, and Fritos Flamin’ Hot Flavored Corn Chips. It was first offered in 2010, took off the menu in 2011, and has had a few limited runs over the past 10 years. It hasn’t been on the menu since 2018, but Taco Bell fans chose it over Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos in a vote to bring it back.
